A few weeks ago, we received an email from PBA Properties Inc. (the licensing entity of the PBA). In that email, they request that we stop our operations on our PBFantasy Mythical 5 fantasy game. One reason given was that they "own propriety over PBA" (though basketball statistics cannot be copyrighted and have long been considered as of public domain). The other reason was that the PBA will be launching its own fantasy game.
We started our partnership with the PBA in 2008 and this sort of email was definitely not the first over the years. On this instance though, we felt mistreated and decided that it's time for us to bow down and suspend our Mythical 5 fantasy game indefinitely. This "lockout" would allow us to re-evaluate our position and come up with a better solution. This is also a good time for us to improve the site. (Send in your suggestions!) We apologize to the loyal fans of the PBA and PBFantasy for this "lockout".
But all is not lost since we will still be updating the scores, the statistics and providing a place where we all PBA fans can interact and share with one another. We are also working on a secret project that will hopefully be useful and accepted by basketball fans and players.
Lastly, we still believe that the PBA fans have the power to impact the decision makers of the PBA. So we need all your support in any way you can!
